(Linda and I with the teacher of the last slum school we visited...)

Monday was the last day of working in the schools in India... it was a day of mixed emotions. The school was the newest and
smallest slum school. If monsoon gets too crazy, the school closes because it will flood. We had to walk deep into the slums to get to it...kind of scary. Met some really interesting kids on the way in and on the way out... The teacher ath this school was young and working through college...she spoke English better than any of the other teachers we met. The kids were really interested in us and really interactive.... (We taught them the Hokey Pokey...)
I am so glad we had the opportunity to go and
work with these teachers and kids. It has already changed the way I look at my life and my job. I hope the schools can use the strategies we gave them to improve their classes... I have a such a special place in my heart now for India. I would love to bring the knowledge of these problems back to the states (ehem, Schulze) and start a school wide project.... And maybe some of my fellow teachers will go with me next summer...hint, hint!!
Fun stuff...Tuesday was just a day to sight see, hangout with the new SOS friends, and street shop... I got two pairs of shoes for 5 dollars... I know some of you are super jealous!!! Love you guys!! Almost home!!
Well, everyone, we are back home now and I am still tired and have been sick with sore throat and sinus infection and some runs. Sorry for being graphic. Anyway, I think I lost a few pounds on this trip. I really hope you all enjoyed the blogs and sorry we did not have computer access as much as we thought we did. I have lots of great photos too and will be glad to share them with all. I am going to put up my own personal blog by next week, mainly to post my photos. I'll let you know the name, but I'm sure it will include Dixie's name somewhere in the title. This was really a great trip despite some of the problems that arose. I really want to take a bigger group of teachers next year. If you are interested let us know, just keep in mind that it is run by a Christian Organization.
